The Portable Frank

This is a small section from an incredible comic book called "The Portable Frank" by Jim Woodring.

It's like a Max Fleischer cartoon with a quirky persian style.
and it's fucking trippayayayy sheeeyt! all tropical and sheet.
There's a really strong sense of timing from one image to the next.

I stole these shots from this girls blog. It's her hand in the first one.

snorting wolf

I was inspired by this roald dahl book cover. I really like the idea of an incredibly scary monster carrying out a friendly act, being creepy and acting friendly at the same time is terrifying.

I practiced construction with this wolf head from Warner Brothers then used the same principles for this cartoony dragon.

dream

The guy with the bowler hat is Rik Mayall. Jean Reno is chasing him,
so he jumps into the flying fox and out the window to the restaurant
in the ocean.

hawking

Usually when I copy something it comes out rather different from the original. For example the smoking man with the panama hat was originally Italian, but he came out looking Australian Aboriginal. Steven Hawking is there but sort of without motor neuron disease. The happy Japanese guy is pretty much a carbon copy.
